This page covers art from Karen Pierce Gonzales and Sara Bell, with my response in words and Haiku format. This is part of an Ekphrastic Challenge for April 2024 hosted by Paul Brookes ( wombwellrainbow.com ). Each day Paul is posting art by a number of contributing artsts, inviting writers to respond. I am a songwriter, not a writer, but this is good practice and I was lucky to be included and so I stuck to Haikus for the exercise. For each day I contributed two Haikus. Please check out the wombwellrainbow.com for the contributions from other writers and check the websites for Karen and Sara. You can enjoy some of their beautiful art below.

Journey

Take me

on a journey

Through art and craft

A map for finding beauty

Through time, life and space

Dazzle me

with your art

A skill

A warmth and depth

To help me learn and heal

Intrigue

with softness of colour

Hues of gentle hint

And delicate curves

Like an essence of woman; sublime

And now

Before the first ‘hello’

Goodbye

How the art will linger

Through sands of time
